About
Why this site exists
Because every beginner investor's first question — "what would that actually look like?" — deserves an answer in 10 seconds, not 40 pages of brochures. FNB Futé is a free simulator, no account and no email required, that shows what regular contributions into popular Canadian ETFs could become over time.
How the scenarios are calculated
The engine applies monthly compounding: each month your contribution is added and the total grows at the selected scenario's annual rate. The three scenarios (pessimistic, realistic, optimistic) are deliberately more conservative than the historical returns shown on the cards — a deliberate choice: better to be pleasantly surprised than to plan around exceptional years.
Where the data comes from
Historical returns and fees (MER) come from the issuers' official pages (Vanguard Canada and BlackRock/iShares Canada), with their as-of date shown on each card. They are updated periodically, not in real time.
How the site is funded (full transparency)
Two sources: display ads (Google AdSense) and referral links to Canadian brokers (Questrade, Wealthsimple). If you open an account through those links, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These partnerships influence neither the math nor the ETFs featured, which were picked purely for their popularity among Canadian DIY investors.
What this site is not
It is neither a financial advisor nor a buy recommendation. It is an educational tool that does math. Past returns do not guarantee future results, and the scenarios are illustrative assumptions. For advice tailored to your situation, consult an accredited professional.
